In early December a friend and I went to London for the weekend. We spontaneously decided to explore this lovely city for a few days. Therefore we booked flights, a hostel and were ready to go.
It was my first weekend trip to a city outside Germany ever. I can just recommend doing trips like this once in a while. Breaking out of your routine and exploring new cities is just really nurturing and you get enough energy for the daily life. It’s also not that expensive if you check for cheap flights and a hostel with high recommendations at an affordable price is also not impossible to find.
We arrived on Saturday morning. After being welcomed with the perfect British accent we left our luggage in the hostel and started to walk along the Themse, doing what tourists are supposed to do. In the afternoon we stepped into our bus to Hogwarts. I will tell you more about our magic trip tomorrow in the second London post. In the evening we had a nice stroll through SoHo and it’s nightlife. It was really weird to me that the bars turned into clubs after 10pm. All I wanted was to sit down, drink cocktails and talk even after 10pm. Well I guess you can’t have it all.
On Sunday we went to Camden Market – such a cool place! From expensive interior to funny comic shirts and delicious food, you can get everything there. I would really recommend going there in the morning! It starts to become really crowded after 11 am.
After having pizza for lunch (I recently renewed my addiction for it) I had to say goodbye to my friend. This poor little thing had to fly back for university. I was spending the afternoon alone and visited the Tate Modern and the museum of natural history. Yes, I enjoyed it and yes, I’m alright with being called a nerd haha.
What I wore:
Scarf – KappAhl (similar here)
Jacket – Mango (similar here)
Turtleneck – Zara (similar here)
Jeans – Levis
Sneakers – Nike Stefan Janowski ,
comfiest shoes for walking 12km a day!
Monday was finally shopping day. Early in the morning I left the hostel to eat breakfast at the Picadilly Circus, but it felt as if nobody was awake but me. The first time I went to London was in fifth grade, but we never made it to Harrods. Therefore I was pretty excited to go there, but in the end I found no huge difference to the KaDeWe in Berlin. Nevertheless I bought delicious chocolate for my family, so I was able to come up with „the finest imported chocolate from great Britain“ under the Christmas tree haha. Afterwards it was time for my personal highlight: Victoria’s Secret. I will give them free advertisement by telling you that after doing a huge shopping spree in the American VS Stores, I can just recommend this brand to everyone. It’s expensive, but it’s worth it. I also have the strong opinion that every woman (men as well) needs good quality underwear. If the underwear fits well, you feel good and are able to take over the world. At least a little bit. So I couldn’t wait to get there again as soon as possible and yes, I spent a lot of money there. After that, it was time already to fly back to Berlin. Bye, bye London – I’ll be back soon.
